Be Constructive In Your Criticism - NNPP Tells Opposition Parties

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has urged opposition parties in the country to be constructive in their criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, News About Nigeria reports.

The founder of the party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, made this appeal on Thursday while appraising the past year of the presidency.

He noted that the government does not need the apportioning of blame in the name of criticism and that opposition parties should rather deliver their criticisms with respect and patriotism.

The founder also stated that President Bola Tinubu is not to blame for the situation the country is in, as Nigeria was already bleeding before he emerged as president.

According to him, the president has taken the country from the intensive care unit to the general ward, adding that there is hope for Nigerian greatness shortly.

“This is not the time to apportion blame in the name of opposition to whatever the government does. Opposition must be responsible and constructive in all criticisms, with respect and patriotism.

“It is, therefore, a time to advise and encourage the president and the leadership of the legislative houses and judiciary to continue to ensure that every one of their actions is for the good of the general welfare of Nigerians.

“The belief of members of the NNPP stands to reason that a great leader is he or she who can take a wrong decision rather than taking none in a matter of state affairs of urgent importance.

“The President is human and may have taken some wrong decisions, like removing the cankerworm of corruption-infested oil subsidies, without first planning on cushioning the effects, but it will be good in the long run,” he stated.

He further noted that it was in recognition of the challenges the nation had that the President came up with the Renewed Hope Agenda to tackle them headlong.

He, therefore, called on all Nigerians to make sacrifices for the good of the country.

He also urged the President to ensure that the most qualified people are deployed to critical and strategic positions in order to drive the process of renewed hope for a greater Nigeria.
