The Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the kidnapping of a female lawyer, Rukayyat Mustafa.

News About Nigeria reports that the arrests were announced in a statement by the command’s spokesman, ASP Ahmed Rufai, following the incident that occurred early Sunday morning.

Rufai mentioned that the bandits stormed Rukayyat’s home in the Bado area of the state metropolis and abducted her, and a young man, believed to be her brother.

“After they trekked to a vehicle parked far from her residence, they told the young man to go back or they would shoot him. The man rushed back for fear of being shot by the bandits,” ASP Rufai said.

According to ASP Rufai, the suspects are alleged to have provided information to the bandits.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, a 52-year-old chief has been apprehended for possession of illegal ammunition.

According to the state’s Public Relations Officer, SSP Bright Edafe, a special police team led by ASP Julius Robinson executed a search warrant at the residence of Chief Oviri Onorigho, an accountant with the Delta State Polytechnic Oghara.

During the search, a Baretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition was recovered.

Edafe stated, “The suspect was immediately arrested, and preliminary investigation revealed that he is suspected to be a member of the Aiye Confraternity. The suspect claimed that he bought the gun from one Morrison (currently at large) for N250,000 and that it was for his protection.”
