Kano: Gov Yusuf Dissolves Interim Management Committees Of 44 LGAs

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has pledged to obey the court order restraining the Kano State government from implementing the repealed law of the Kano Emirates Council.

This development comes amidst mounting tension in the state, with a team of soldiers deployed to the mini-palace of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, News About Nigeria reports.

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Kano issued an ex-parte order restraining Governor Abba Yusuf from reinstating Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The order also halted the implementation of the new law that abolished the four emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano.

However, Governor Yusuf faulted the order, claiming that the judge issued it from the United States.

Despite this, the Police Command has vowed to enforce the court order alongside other law enforcement agents in the state.

Addressing a press briefing at the headquarters of the command on Saturday morning, the Commissioner of Police, Usaini Mohammed Gumel, warned troublemakers to steer clear.

He stated that the Police Command is committed to carrying out its statutory duties as provided by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Gumel advised the public to remain calm and patient, as the matter will be addressed by the Court on June 3, 2024.

He also warned that anyone found planning to disrupt the peace or jeopardise the existing security settings in the state would be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, was involved in the return of the dethroned Emir to the palace.

Gwarzo claimed that Ribadu arranged for two jets to transport Ado Bayero back to Kano.

“The National Security Adviser gave two jets to bring the dethroned emir to Kano and to bring him to the place. We have not understood their intention,” he alleged.
