President Tinubu Makes Fresh Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) and Dr. Adedeji Ashiru as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).

The appointments were announced in a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngalale on Wednesday, News About Nigeria reports.

Engr. Woke, an engineer, environmental specialist, and politician, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering and has served in various roles, including Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State and Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt.

Dr. Ashiru, with a Doctorate degree in Engineering from the Common Wealth University, UK, has led a consortium of blue-chip companies and has a proven track record in his professional endeavors.

According to the statement, the President expects the new Chief Executive Officers to bring their expertise to these critical agencies for sustainable gains and turnaround, while maintaining utmost transparency in their operations.

Engr. Woke is a loyalist of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, having served as Chief of Staff at Government House, Port Harcourt under Wike’s administration. He also served as Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers and Commissioner for Special Duties under Wike’s successor, Siminalayi Fubara, before resigning when the governor fell out with his predecessor.

Woke was earlier appointed by Tinubu as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.

As reported earlier, Tinubu approved the appointment of Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Shehu Mohammed as the new Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

According to a letter of appointment signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on May 20, 2024, ACM Shehu Mohammed’s appointment takes effect from May 20, 2024.
