The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has revealed that the party’s primary focus for the upcoming 2027 general elections is to secure victories in more states and the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
News About Nigeria reports that Ganduje made this statement during the inaugural policy roundtable organised by the APC Professionals Forum in Abuja, as the party prepares to mark the one-year anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.
According to Ganduje, the party’s objectives for the 2027 elections include strengthening the party to ensure success in retaining current state governors, electing new ones, and securing another term for President Tinubu to continue implementing the government’s policies and programmes.
To achieve this, Ganduje said the party has constituted a Reconciliation Committee at the national level to reconcile all aggrieved party members, with similar committees to be established at the state, local government, and ward levels.
Ganduje also commented on the transformation of Nigeria’s economy into a credit-based consumer economy, which he said is expected to enhance agriculture, particularly dry season farming, and have a positive impact on food security, food prices, infrastructure development, and access to education, among other areas.
The APC chairman praised President Tinubu’s achievements in his first year in office, including the shift towards renewable and sustainable energy sources, the use of cheap and clean compressed natural gas (CNG), and the approval of several road projects across the country.
He also mentioned the upcoming operationalization of the Student Loan Fund, which will provide easier access to higher education for Nigerian youth, and the increased transmission capacity of the country’s power grid, which now peaks at 14,000 megawatts.
He added, “We have directed our state chapters to liaise with their respective governors and other stakeholders to ensure that we have full-fledged, functional offices in every political ward and state to enable our members across the country to have symbolic representation in their neighbourhood.”
