The ongoing crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has taken a fresh turn as the party has suspended the Ward Chairman of the suspended serving senator, Jimoh Ibrahim.
News About Nigeria reports that the suspension was contained in a letter dated May 12, 2024.
The letter revealed that 16 members of the APC Executive Committee of Igbotako Ward 11 in Okitipupa Local Government Area carried out the suspension.
According to the letter, the ward chairman’s suspension was due to his refusal to convene a meeting of ward executives after being given a 48-hour ultimatum, as well as his other “unprogressive attitudes.”
The letter stated, “Consequent upon your refusal to convene a meeting of ward executives of Igbotako Ward Il after giving you 48 hours to do so as well as your other unprogressive attitudes, the majority of the ward excos hereby suspend you from the party.”
The suspension was unanimously agreed upon by 16 executive members of the ward during a meeting held on May 12, 2024, at Igbotako, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The letter was signed by various executive members, including the Ward Secretary, Mr. Omotoye Olusola; Organising Secretary, Mr. Abdulkadiri Saliu; Women Leader, Mrs. Famakin Jumoke; and others.
This development comes just 48 hours after the ruling party suspended Senator Jimoh Ibrahim for his alleged anti-party activities.
The same 16 executive members of the APC Executive Committee of Igbotako Ward 11 in Okitipupa Local Government Area carried out the suspension, citing violations of the party’s constitution, including his decision to sue the party and engage in anti-party activities.
The executive members stated, “We have found Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s actions and activities to be in violation of the party’s constitution… As such, we have resolved to take appropriate disciplinary action against him as outlined in the party’s constitution.”
