Fmr Rep Calls For Resignation Of Tinubu

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu flagged off the first-ever summit of African First Ladies held in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He also launched the “Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), #WeAreEqual Campaign”, a programme focused on health, education, economic empowerment, and gender-based violence.

The programme is running in about 15 other African countries already.

During the flagging-off event at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, President Tinubu explained that the focus of the campaign in Nigeria, “Education as a Powerful Tool for Change” is critical for Africa’s development.

He further noted that their primary responsibility is to ensure that education is prioritised in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

The president called on state governors and other stakeholders in the country to support the programme, as it would go a long way towards rebuilding the nation’s educational sector.

Speaking to other African countries, Tinubu charged them to promote a “society where everyone has the same opportunities, regardless of who they are, because doing that leads to a stronger and more peaceful society for all.”

The African First Ladies Summit is the coming together of first ladies from different African countries with the aim of driving change and shaping the destinies of women and future generations.

News About Nigeria gathered that the launch of the campaign in Nigeria is following plans by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to reintroduce Alternative High School for Girls in Nigeria.

The planned initiative by the president’s wife is expected to offer a second chance to young girls who have dropped out of school to further their education and fulfil their dreams and aspirations.
