Why Fubara, Wike Are At Odds With Each Other – Rivers State Chief Of Staff Shares More Insight

Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed the reasons behind the frosty relationship between his principal and former governor Nyesom Wike.

According to Ehie, the problem in Rivers State began when a few political leaders sought exclusive control of the state’s resources, News About Nigeria reports.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service for Governor Fubara’s Supreme Court victory in Ahoada East Local Government Area on Saturday, Ehie alleged that 11 individuals attempted to hijack the state’s resources, and subsequently roped in 20 others to allocate resources to themselves.

This, he said, is the root cause of the political tensions in the state.

The thanksgiving service, held at Western County High School Ahoada, was attended by people from all walks of life, who gathered to celebrate Governor Fubara’s victory four months after.

The event featured a choir performance, sermon, and political speeches.

Community leaders, women, youth groups, and loyalists from the 13 political wards danced in support of Governor Fubara, while state lawmakers backing him pledged their support for his success.

Ehie, speaking on behalf of Governor Fubara, warned that despite Fubara’s youthful age, he has the capacity to teach his opponents a political lesson.

“We are going to teach them a lesson of political arithmetic. What that small boy will do to you, you’ll know that khaki no be leather,” Ehie stated.

During the occasion, N200,000 was each presented to 65 small-scale business owners, as well as N500,000 to each of the 13 coordinators of the Simplified Movement by the Chief of Staff.

Recall that former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, had earlier accused Wike, of orchestrating the political crisis in the state.

Secondus alleged that Wike’s actions are motivated by his desire for unfettered access to the state’s finances, which governor Siminalayi Fubara has refused to grant.
