President Bola Tinubu has appointed Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.
News About Nigeria reports that this announcement was made in a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on Thursday.
Engr. Woke, a seasoned engineer and politician, has served as Chairman of Emohua local government area of Rivers State and Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, for many years.
The statement added: “The President expects the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority to discharge his duties with integrity and in conformity with the highest standards of transparency, while working at harnessing and developing the water resource potential of the area, as well as ensuring that the Authority is a channel for holistic and integrated industrial, agricultural, and community development.”
Recall that President Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, ending days of speculation and concern over his whereabouts.
He arrived in Abuja on Wednesday morning, following his trips to the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia.
The president’s location had been shrouded in secrecy since his trip to Saudi Arabia on April 29, sparking concerns about his health.
However, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced on Tuesday that the President would return to Nigeria on Wednesday.
This was confirmed by the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Tunji Alausa, who assured Nigerians that the President’s absence was not related to his health. Alausa stated that the President is well, healthy, and leading the country in the right direction, and that the government’s focus is on developing a healthcare system for all Nigerians.
