Landmark Beach Begins Refunding Customers Affected by Demolition

Following the demolition of a part of Landmark Beach on Victoria Island, Lagos, to make way for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the company has bemoaned the impact of the demolition.

According to the company, what they suffered to build in six years was destroyed before them in just six hours.

This was said in a post shared by Landmark Africa, the parent company of the beach, in reaction to the demolition.

The company, however, appreciated Nigerians for standing with them throughout the process, noting that it was not the end for them as they would bounce back.

The post reads, “What a journey! What we built in 6 years was destroyed in 6 hours. We are overwhelmed at the show of support we have received from Landmark Citizens and all our partners. Thank you for standing with us and believing in our mission and cause so far. This is not the end.”

News About Nigeria gathered that the company invested about $200 million into the beach that has now been demolished by the federal government.

The demolition of the beach has since been getting various reactions, as many are lamenting its impact on workers who would lose their jobs and source of livelihood in these hard times that the country is facing.

Meanwhile, the minister of works, Dave Umahi, while defending the demolition, explained that the move was necessary because the landmark centre was located on the Federal Government’s right-of-way.

He also revealed that the FG would commence the payment of compensation to property owners affected by the demolition today, May 1, 2024.
