Oshiomole Laments, Says Workers Suffering In Nigeria Like Never Before

The Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has faulted the involvement of Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State in the case between the former Governor, Yahaya Bello, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), News About Nigeria reports.

He stated this while speaking at a national integration conference.

Oshiomhole stated that the interference of Governor Ododo is a breach of law, adding that the refusal of Yahaya Bello to show up in court also constitutes a breach of the law.

Speaking at the conference themed ‘Revisiting the national question: Nigeria’s elusive search for national integration’, organised by the Kukah Centre, Oshiomhole urged citizens to speak up against breaches of the law, irrespective of who is involved.

He maintained that the root of the problems facing the country remains the habit of Nigerians naming children as the poor who steal but refusing to maintain the same energy with the rich and influential in the country.

“If you are afraid, given the fact that you are very vocal, you are independent, you cannot be dismissed, you cannot be promoted or demoted. If you are afraid to mention the name of a former governor who breached the law and a sitting governor who used his immunity to cover a governor that lost immunity, where will the courage come from?” he stated.

Recall that Yahaya Bello, the immediate-past governor of Kogi, is facing charges by the EFCC of money laundering and corruption to the tune of N80.2 billion.

There were reports that Ododo whisked Bello away in one of his cars.

However, the Kogi High Court delivered judgement in a fundamental rights enforcement suit, restraining the commission from harassing, threatening to arrest, or detaining the former governor.
