Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Binance executive who fled Nigeria for Kenya in March, has been arrested, News About Nigeria reports.
The executive of the cryptocurrency platform was said to have been arrested by men of the Kenya Police Service.
It was gathered that the International Criminal Police Organisation is making plans towards extraditing him back to Nigeria this week.
According to a Government source who spoke to Newsmen on Sunday night on anonymity, the Binance executive would be extradited back to Nigeria by INTERPOL to face the tax evasion charges levelled against him before he fled custody.
The source said, “Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service, and he would be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL.
“As we had said before that Anjarwalla would be extradited, he has been arrested in Kenya, and he’ll be extradited to Nigeria this week.”
It can be recalled that Anjarwalla was arrested alongside another Binance employee, Tigran Gambaryan when they came to Nigeria in February, 2024.
Following their arrest, the duo were then put in custody while awaiting trial for the allegations of tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering to the tune of $35,400,000 amongst others levied against the duo and their organisation.
However, Anjarwalla escaped custody in March when he was led to observe Friday prayers in a mosque in the spirit of Ramadan.
The executive of the giant cryptocurrency platform reportedly fled to Kenya.
After he went into hiding, efforts were made by Security agencies in Nigeria including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Kenya Police Service and other international security agencies to ascertain his whereabout and to also bring him back to Nigeria.
