Fake Reverend Sister In NAPTIP Custody For Trafficking 38 Children, Operating Fake Orphanage

The Edo Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) revealed on Thursday that it has arrested a fake Reverend sister, Ikejimba Maryvianney for trafficking 38 children in Delta State, News About Nigeria reports.

According to NAPTIP, the 40-year-old fake Reverend sister and one Chidera, now at large, were handed the children by their parents after disguising that they would give them a better life in their orphanage.

The parents of the children are said to be at a farm community in Enugu-Awka camp by Monastery, Ilah, Delta State.

Speaking on her arrest, the NAPTIP Zonal Commander in Benin, Nduka Nwanwenne, said the suspect is in their custody.

Nwanwenne explained that she gained full custody of the children after persuading their parents that she was taking them to her orphanage homes, where they would be given better care.

He further revealed that she lied to them, saying that she was trained in Ghana as a Rev. sister and had the headquarters of her orphanage home in the Philippines.

Nwanwenne however disclosed that 32 of the children trafficked by the fake reverend sister have been recovered by the agency while six are still yet to be recovered.

He added, “The suspect claims that three of the six children are in Badagry while the other three are in Ogun State but later said they have been adopted by people in the East.”

Nwanwenne stated that investigations are still ongoing to recover the remaining six children. He warned parents to be careful and mindful about their children.
