A group within the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, known as the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), has assured aspirants of fairness and equity in the party’s primary, News About Nigeria reports.
The Director General of the AMG, Evang. Olumuyiwa Asagunla, made this known in a statement on Tuesday, maintaining that there will be no endorsement of aspirants by the group.
He noted that choosing the best candidate in the primary was a sure way of guaranteeing success in the forthcoming governorship election.
According to him, it is important that all stakeholders work together for the good of the party.
He further urged members of the group who will be participating in the voting process during the primaries to ensure that they make capacity and acceptability their watchword in the choice of aspirant to vote, and put aside sentiments or favouritism.
“We believe in the sanctity of the party’s supremacy and the spirit of fairness and equity and the group will not be endorsing any of the aspirants for the primary election,” he stated.
Asagunla also tasked the aspirants to remember that the party is larger than any one of them and as such should go into the primary election as brothers from one family, without strife or discord.
He added that at the end of the process, the rest should offer their full support and work together with whoever emerges candidate of the party for the good of the party.
The group, however, maintained that it would remain neutral in the choice of candidate in the primary election because they believe that all the aspirants can lead the state and are no newbies in governance and administration.
