A notorious kidnap Kingpin, identified as Aralu Chukwudi Charis, has been apprehended by operatives of the Imo State Police Command Anti Kidnapping Unit, News About Nigeria reports.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Imo state Police Command, ASP Henry Okoye, disclosed this on Monday, in the state capital.

He noted that the 40-year-old kidnap kingpin, who hails from Otolo in Nnewi North Council Area of Anambra State, was apprehended in his hideout at Mgbidi in Oru East Council Area of Imo State, last Saturday.

According to him, the arrest was made following credible intelligence and a well-coordinated operation that led the operatives to the criminal hideout of the suspect.

The Kidnapping Unit, led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, apprehended the criminal who has masterminded several kidnapping and armed robbery operations in the State and recovered one Ash Coloured Toyota Camry, 2005 model, with reg no; MUS 509 DS Lagos that was reportedly snatched.

Okoye noted that the suspect, during investigations, confessed to being the gang leader of a deadly criminal syndicate terrorising the people of Imo State and provided crucial information that will assist the operatives in the arrest of his syndicate at large.

He added that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon completion of a comprehensive investigation.

In the same vein, the state Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, maintained that the Command is committed to apprehending criminal syndicate perpetrating insecurity in the State.

He, therefore, urged residents of the State, particularly the youths to stay away from crime, warning that perpetrators will always be exposed and in most cases, end up in tragedy.
