The Kano branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sacked Party Ward Leaders who suspended the National Chairman of the Party, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.
News About Nigeria reports that this development follows the suspension of Ganduje by his ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government on Monday.
While dismissing the suspension, the APC Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman, Inusa Dawanau, said that those who suspended the National Chairman were engaged in activities against the party’s interests.
Meanwhile, the state working committee of the APC has adopted the suspension of the Ward APC leaders. The party at the state level have imposed a six-month sanction on the leaders and has set up a special investigations panel to probe various allegations against them.
Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano Chairman of the Party, who made this known said, “We have evidence of meetings between the state government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman. The state working committee has agreed to sanction them for six months and they stand now suspended.”
Members of the Ganduje Ward in Kano State suspended Ganduje over corruption allegations.
The suspension was announced by the Executive Council of Ganduje Ward during a press conference led by Haruna Gwanjo in Kano.
Gwanjo stated that Ganduje must address corruption allegations, particularly regarding a longstanding dollar case.
Recall that the Kano State Government had recently filed charges against the former governor, his wife, and others, accusing them of bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of funds amounting to billions of naira.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is a protege of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. However, Ganduje and Kwankwaso are known to be political rivals.
