Edo 2024: Aiyedatiwa Felicitates With Okpebholo On Election Victory

A political faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, known as the G30 group, has thrown its support behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s bid for re-election.

They praised his competency, leadership capacity, and progressive vision showcased in recent months, News About Nigeria reports.

In a press briefing in Akure, the state capital, the group said Aiyedatiwa is suitable for addressing the state’s challenges.

Dr. Tola Awosika, the group’s convener, said that Aiyedatiwa is best positioned to lead Ondo State to prosperity within a four-year term.

Awosika urged residents to back a candidate capable of driving unprecedented development, regardless of the duration of their tenure.

This declaration follows a plea from aspirant Jimi Odimayo, cautioning against voting for Aiyedatiwa due to concerns about the length of his potential term.

However, Awosika countered Odimayo’s claims, saying: “I think we should be more concerned about tomorrow—what happens to our state—than what happens in a year, two, three, or four years.

“I’m sure you know that when the Northern senatorial district was clamoring for their turn, they also wanted eight years, but unfortunately, God decides tomorrow, and our late governor was only able to achieve seven years. However, in those seven years, he did his part.

“He impacted his people, and they are very pleased with the legacy he left for them as far as Ondo North is concerned. So, I don’t see that being an issue for him. I believe it’s not about how long you spend but what you do when you’re given the opportunity.

“So, whether it’s two or four years, I believe he has what it takes to create a very sharp impact for the good people of Ondo State.”

Awosika was joined by former House of Representatives member Tajudeen Adefisoye and Dr. Oluwaseun Bosede Osamaye.

Those in the governorship race are the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiewa, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, Olusoji Ehinlanwo, John Odimayo, Jimoh Folorunsho, Duerimini Kekemeke, Samuel Akinfolarin, and Adewale Akinterinwa.

Others are Olugbenga Edema, Olusola Oke, Felix Onwuyeye, Morayo Lebi, Diran Iyantan, Francis Faduyile, Judith Omogoroye, and Ifeoluwa Oyedele.

The APC has scheduled its primary election for April 25. Meanwhile, the gubernatorial election is slated for November 16.
