Eid-el-Fitr: Sokoto Government Declares Work-Free Day

The Sokoto State Government has declared Friday, April 12, 2024, as a work-free day to allow civil servants to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with their families, News About Nigeria reports.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, and released to newsmen in the state on Thursday.

According to the statement, Governor Ahmed Aliyu wishes the people of Sokoto State a hitch-free Sallah celebration and encourages civil servants to spend time with their loved ones during the festive period.

Similarly, the Katsina State Government has also declared Friday, April 12, 2024, as a work-free day to enable workers to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the state governor, Dikko Radda, and issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, on Tuesday.

Governor Radda stressed the importance of allowing workers to fully participate in the Sallah celebrations with their families.

This decision follows the Federal Government’s extension of the Eid-el-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, April 11, providing additional time for festivities and gatherings across the country.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has stated that the Federal Government is working hard to improve the economy of the country.

In a statement issued by Deputy Director, Press, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Suleiman Haruna, on Wednesday, he noted that aside from the federal government working to improve the state of the economy, they have been able to achieve a lot in the one year that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has spent in office.

The Minister, who spoke after the Eid-el-Fitr prayer, which marked the end of Ramadan at Kaduna Capital School in Kaduna, also said that the President has been able to stabilise the foreign exchange rate and also reposition agriculture in the country while improving security.
