The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has stressed the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among residents of the state and the nation as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, News About Nigeria reports.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke urged Muslims to continue praying for his administration and the nation.
“Congratulations to my Muslim brethren for seeing yet another Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” Governor Adeleke said.
“I want to urge you all to keep praying for us. Pray for our administration as prayer is never too much. Let us also make sure that now and beyond, we live in unity because united we stand and divided we fall.”
The governor also expressed his administration’s commitment to the speedy completion of the Muslim Pilgrim camp in the state.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has enjoined Muslims across the country to exercise moderation and uphold the lessons of Ramadan even as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
In her maiden Eid-el-Fitr message as First Lady, Mrs. Tinubu stressed the importance of sustaining the good deeds exhibited during the month of Ramadan.
Mrs. Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs. Busola Kukoyi, conveyed the Eid message, urging Muslims to continue practicing self-purification, sacrifice, self-discipline, and compassion towards fellow Nigerians beyond the holy month.
“The lessons learnt during the one month of fasting should not be eroded on the altar of celebration,” the first lady said.
“We should be modest in our celebration and continue to extend love to others. Our kindness to one another and service to humanity should extend beyond the month of Ramadan.”
The First Lady commended women for their sacrifices in preparing meals and caring for the family during Ramadan, while also urging the youth to shun negative acts and contribute positively towards nation-building.
