Kwara Governor Mourns Retired Justice Ahmad Belgore’s Passing

Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, has passed away, as confirmed by the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, Kwara State, Kamaldeen Gambari, on Tuesday, News About Nigeria reports.

The news of Justice Belgore’s demise was shared by Gambari in a social media post, where he expressed condolences and prayed for the forgiveness of the departed.

Belgore retired from his position as a Justice of the Court of Appeal on April 18, 2023, upon reaching the retirement age of 70.

Reacting to the sad news, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, described Justice Belgore’s death as a huge loss to the Ilorin Emirate and the nation as a whole.

In a statement conveyed by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir expressed deep shock over Belgore’s demise, stressing his exemplary character and dedication to service.

He praised Belgore’s contributions to the judiciary and humanity, both nationally and internationally.

The Emir extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to the people of Ilorin and Nigerians in general, mourning the loss of one of the finest justices produced by the Ilorin Emirate.

“This is a great and colossal loss that has befallen the Ilorin Emirate and humanity at large.

“It is with shock that I received the news of the demise of Justice Ahmad Belgore. He was a complete gentleman, a thorough judicial officer who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities, both nationally and internationally.

“He was one of the finest justices that the Ilorin Emirate has ever produced. He contributed in no small measure to the growth and development of the judiciary and humanity in general.”
