The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has offered his condolences on the demise of retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ahmad Belgore.
The governor’s heartfelt message was conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in a statement released to journalists on Wednesday.
Justice Belgore, who served as the presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal until his recent retirement, passed away on Tuesday night.
Governor AbdulRazaq extended his sympathies to the entire Ilorin Emirate, the legal community, and the Belgore family, mourning the loss of a distinguished figure.
In the statement, the governor described Justice Belgore as a legal luminary and a prominent community leader, noting his huge contributions to both the legal profession and the society at large.
He acknowledged Belgore’s role as a pillar of support for many individuals and institutions throughout his illustrious career.
Similarly, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Justice Belgore.
“This is a great and colossal loss that has befallen the Ilorin Emirate and humanity at large.
“It is with shock that I received the news of the demise of Justice Ahmad Belgore. He was a complete gentleman, a thorough judicial officer who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities, both nationally and internationally.
“He was one of the finest justices that the Ilorin Emirate has ever produced. He contributed in no small measure to the growth and development of the judiciary and humanity in general,” his statement read.
News About Nigeria reported that Justice Ahmad Belgore passed away at the age of 70, just a few days before his 71st birthday. Born on April 18, 1953, he retired from his position as a Justice of the Court of Appeal on April 18, 2023.
