The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of dedicated Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and Deputy Public Relations Officers (DPROs) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
News About Nigeria reports that this directive was announced by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released on Saturday.
According to the statement, the newly appointed officers and their respective portfolios include CSP Isuku Victor Edailokun as Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Ukandu Joshua as PPRO for Ebonyi State, ASP Buhari Abdullahi as PPRO for Gombe State, ASP John Timfon as PPRO for Akwa-Ibom State, and ASP Hundeyin Isaac Sewanu as PPRO for Ports Authority Police (Western) Lagos.
“The Inspector General of Police hereby reiterates his commitment to standardising and repositioning the Force in line with his vision statement while wishing the newly posted officers success in their new roles,” the statement reads.
The IGP also extended his best wishes to the newly appointed officers, expressing confidence in their ability to excel in their new roles.
Adejobi stressed that the newly posted officers have been tasked with maintaining professionalism in their interactions and fostering strong relationships with members of the public.
Meanwhile, the IGP said that there has been a surge in kidnapping and murder cases over the past eight weeks.
According to Egbetokun, the Nigeria Police Force recorded 214 cases of kidnapping and 537 homicide cases during this period.
Egbetokun stated that 3,685 suspects were apprehended for their involvement in various criminal activities, while 401 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.
“Our responses to the current internal security threats require strategic deployments that are not only proactive but also technology and intelligence-driven,” Egbetokun said.
