Kaduna APC Women Leader Unfazed By Suspension Over Criticism Of Governor Uba Sani

Maryam Suleiman, the suspended Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, has expressed her lack of remorse over her criticisms of Governor Uba Sani, News About Nigeria reports.

In a telephone interview with newsmen on Monday, Suleiman described her suspension by the party as an act of God.

The Kaduna State APC leadership announced Suleiman’s indefinite suspension on Sunday following her criticisms of Governor Sani.

Her suspension came after the governor lamented inheriting a huge debt from his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, during a town hall meeting on Saturday.

Governor Sani disclosed that the state was burdened with $587 million, N85bn, and 115 contractual liabilities, which has left the Treasury unable to pay workers’ salaries.

In response to the governor’s remarks, a viral video surfaced on social media showing Suleiman berating Governor Sani for allegedly mismanaging the state’s finances and shifting blame to El-Rufai.

She accused Governor Sani of betrayal and advised him against antagonising El-Rufai, whom she referred to as ‘our leader’.

The Kaduna APC leadership justified Suleiman’s suspension under Article 21, 2 (v) of the APC Constitution, citing her attack on the governor as grounds for disciplinary action.

However, speaking to The Punch, Suleiman revealed that she had not received any official communication regarding her suspension and she learned about it via social media.

Despite her suspension, Suleiman claimed that she spoke the truth in the video. “I have no regrets over my criticism of Governor Sani. I thank God for all that happened.

“I only heard of my suspension on social media. I am yet to be served the suspension letter.

“In any case, I stand by what I said about the governor. I have no regrets at all. I remained unruffled by my actions because I stated the obvious,” she said.
