Popular Nigerian billionaire business tycoon Aliko Dangote has been ranked as the 144th richest man in the world, News About Nigeria reports.

According to the Forbes 38th annual World’s Billionaires List released today (Tuesday), Dangote is also the richest man in Africa, with a net worth of $13.4 billion

The 66-year-old who founded and chairs Dangote Cement, the continent’s largest cement producer, has now expanded into the oil business.

According to the Forbes list, Dangote and South Africa’s Johann Rupert are the only two Africans to make the world’s top 200 richest men on earth.

While Dangote sits at 144th, Rupert, who is into fashion and retail with a net worth of $12.2 billion, is the 162nd richest man in the world at age 73.

He is the chairman of Swiss luxury goods firm Compagnie Financière Richemont.

In the Forbes list released today, 75-year-old Bernard Arnault was the richest man on earth.

Arnault, who is into fashion and retail, has a net worth of $233 billion and oversees the LVMH empire of 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Louis Vuitton and Sephora.

In second place is 52-year-old Elon Musk, with a net worth of $195 billion.

The billionaire business tycoon is into automotive and co-founded six companies, including electric car maker Tesla, rocket producer SpaceX, and tunnelling startup Boring Company.

Musk is also the owner of the social media app X, formerly known as Twitter.

The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, 60, is the third richest man in the world with a net worth of $194 billion while 39-year-old Mark Zuckerberg is the fourth richest man with a net worth of $177 billion.
