London Gatwick Airport Files Safety Violation Reports Against Air Peace

On Saturday, Air Peace officially commenced its Lagos-London flight services, marking a big milestone for the Nigerian airline.

The commencement of the service follows the announcement made a month ago, during a prelaunch forum organised by the airline in February, where plans to begin direct flight operations to London on March 30 were unveiled.

The announcement of the commencement of Lagos-London flights comes after Air Peace’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, revealed in November that the airline had successfully obtained the Foreign Carrier Operator Permit and Third Country Operator Permit.

These permits signify that Air Peace is qualified to operate flights to Europe and the United Kingdom.

The development was shared on the Air Peace X handle on Saturday, with the airline expressing its delight at achieving yet another feat in its mission to continually provide peaceful connectivity across cities.

In a statement, Air Peace wrote, “London service has commenced, and we’re delighted to have achieved yet another feat in our drive to continually provide peaceful connectivity across cities. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this launch.”

Notable figures present at the inaugural flight to London included the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anita, among others.

News About Nigeria reported that the airline cut the cost of its economy class ticket to N1.2 million, which is way less than the N3.5 million charged by foreign airlines.

This move challenges British Airways, which used to be the main carrier on this route.

Air Peace is now offering direct flights from Lagos to Gatwick, London, creating direct competition with British Airways.

The airline recently shared its flight schedules for the London service, set to begin on March 30, 2024.
