The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Thursday revealed that the abducted Kuriga school children helped the troop in rescuing them.
According to the DHQ, the level of distress created by the children provided sufficient grounds for them to exploit and rescue them.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja today, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, noted that the military also mounted pressure on the terrorists before the successful rescue of the abducted 137 school children.
Buba said, “The armed force is bent on sustaining the winning ways of our operational engagements as demonstrated with the recent rescue of 16 and 137 hostages in Sokoto and Kaduna States, respectively. The level of distressed created by the children was sufficient enough for troops to exploit in their rescue.”
He further noted that the successful rescue of the abducted school children shows that the armed forces is committed to securing and protecting the people.
“The success demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the armed forces to secure and protect the citizens against harm and acts of terror,” he stated.
Buba further charged Nigerian not to panic in the face of the current insecurity challenges as the armed forces is working tirelessly towards ensuring that it becomes a thing of the past.
News About Nigeria recalls that the 137 school children were abducted by terrorists on the 7th of March, 2024.
The terrorists had invaded the LGEA Primary School, Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State immediately after the morning assembly session and forcefully made away with the children.
However, the Nigerian army were able to rescue the schoolchildren unhurt on the 24th of March, 2024.
