President Tinubu Congratulates Senegal‘s Newly Elected President, Bassirou Faye

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, on his victory at the polls.

The president’s felicitations were conveyed in a statement released by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday.

While eulogising the newly elected President, Tinubu noted that he believes that President-elect Faye will do well, just by merely looking at his sterling record and the fact that he comes with great promise.

He also wished him success as he took on this important job of leading the good people of Senegal.

Tinubu also congratulated the people of Senegal and assured them of Nigeria’s best wishes and support.

Also, the President lauded the incumbent President of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency, President Macky Sall, for overseeing an election that has been widely adjudged to be peaceful and transparent.

Tinubu further noted that, as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), he believes that the success of the presidential election in Senegal and the successful conduct of the general election in Liberia a few months ago have affirmed his long-held conviction that the taproot of democracy is deeply established in West Africa and will only grow stronger as it is watered by good governance, justice, and fairness to all.

He further noted that the successful conduct of the Senegal election is a boost to the sub-regional organisation in its efforts to promote peace and constitutional order, as well as strengthen ties among member states.

News About Nigeria reports that the 44-year-old newly elected President of the Republic of Senegal will be sworn in on April 2, 2024.
