On Sunday, tragedy occurred during an almsgiving zakat exercise for the poor in Bauchi State, resulting in a stampede that claimed the lives of four people.

A 17-year-old, identified as Naima Abdullahi, is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
Confirming the unfortunate event, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmed Wakili, assured that the situation has been stabilised.
He mentioned that the police promptly responded upon receiving the news, and the police commissioner urged the public to remain composed.
In a separate development, the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, refuted claims of allocating the sum of N6 billion for the annual Ramadan feeding programme in the state.
Earlier reports had indicated the allocation of N6 billion for the month-long feeding programme, prompting questions from the opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Governor Yusuf clarified on his verified social media handle that the actual budget for the programme was N1,197,700,000 for the entire month.
He wrote, “Over the past few days, I’ve observed heightened media speculations about our government purportedly budgeting the sum of six billion naira for the Ramadan Feeding Programme.
“I wish to categorically state that the actual amount for the programme is the sum of one billion one hundred and ninety-seven million seven hundred thousand naira, for the whole month.”
