The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has met with the Nigerian Senate to discuss the state of security in the country’s capital city, News About Nigeria reports.
The Minister, who met with the members of the Senate on Wednesday, stated that the administration has been able to bring down the wave of insecurity in the state, adding that some of the challenges were that some of the kidnapping cases were stage-managed by individuals working as aides to the victims.
He further noted that he will be implementing suggestions that were given to him by the lawmakers, stating that he looked forward to trashing the issue of insecurity in the country’s capital and other states of the federation.
“The Senators agreed that security has improved in the FCT. Let me also say that there is no part of the world where criminality has been abated. We have heard several times in the United States of America that criminals go to school and shoot students. So people should not have the impression that you cannot have one crime or the other. What we need is to be able to limit or reduce the level of insecurity.
“Also, most of the kidnapping stories you hear, some of them are stage-managed by people. There are some internal arrangements. So these are the things we should know,” he stated.
He assured the people that he would continue to do his best to ensure that the best security is provided for them.
“We cannot give you the assurance that there will be no form of criminality, nobody can do that, as long as we are humans.” He added.
