FAAN Says Electrical Spark Caused Power Outage At Lagos Airport

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos experienced a power outage on March 7, 2024, due to an electrical spark originating from the ceiling of the E arrival hall, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

This was revealed in a statement released by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah.

Orah disclosed that the spark resulted from a cable short circuit incident that occurred at the terminal’s E-Wing around 11:20 a.m.

Upon detecting the electrical issue, FAAN took immediate action by switching off the power supply to the affected section to prevent further escalation.

The engineering department swiftly responded to identify the source of the spark, and the suspected cable was promptly cut to halt the power flow.
