The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, inaugurated 21 local government administrators on Tuesday, News About Nigeria reports.
Governor Idris charged the new administrators to prioritise the needs of their communities.
The move comes after the dissolution of all elected chairmen and secretaries of the state’s 21 local governments last month, following the expiration of their tenure.
During the inauguration at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris emphasised the importance of the administrators staying closely connected to the people at the grassroots.
“As leaders, I want you to stay with your people instead of leaving them and moving to the state capital.
“I urge you to work hard, do your work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in you.”
He urged them to work diligently and justify the confidence reposed in them by the government and the citizens.
Governor Idris stated that the new administrators are diverse, encompassing both experienced and young politicians.
He expressed the need for seasoned politicians to mentor and guide the younger generation, fostering a collaborative environment for effective governance.
“Remember, I promised that my administration will go with both experienced (old) politicians as well as the young (youths), this combination you are seeing today is in fulfilment of my promise.
“I want the old, experienced and seasoned politicians to groom the young ones because they are our future leaders.”
In response, Dahiru Nayaya-Ambursa, the sole administrator of Birnin Kebbi, spoke on behalf of the newly inaugurated administrators, assuring the governor of their unwavering support.
Nayaya-Ambursa pledged the administrators’ commitment to positive development in their respective local government areas.
