Amid this network challenge, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reiterated its directive to telecom operators to deactivate telephone lines not linked to National Identification Numbers (NIN) by February 28, 2024.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, mentioned this deadline during the 45th Kaduna International Trade Fair on Wednesday.
He reminded telecom operators that the NCC has instructed them to bar the phone lines of subscribers who fail to link their NIN to their SIM cards before the specified deadline.
The directive aims to enhance national security by ensuring that telecom consumers are linked to their unique identification numbers.
