Kebbi Hunters Recover Stolen Cows

Hunters in Kebbi State have recovered no fewer than 74 cows that were stolen and were being transported to Niger Republic, News About Nigeria reports.

The state commander of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, Musa Hussaini-Rambo, made this known to newsmen on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.

He noted that the incident took place at JarKuka in the Bachaka ward of the Arewa Local Government Area of the state, adding that one suspected bandit was neutralised in the course of recovering the stolen cows.

According to him, the stolen cows have been handed over to relevant authorities for onward delivery to their owners.

Hussaini-Rambo further stated that aside from recovering the cows and neutralising the suspected bandits, the hunters also arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of armoured cables.

He disclosed that one of the suspects specialises in vandalism and theft of armoured cables, while the other buys the stolen items at N5000 per kilogramme.

The commander disclosed that the two suspects were arrested in the Gwadangwaji area of Birnin Kebbi.

“We are going to hand them over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps for further investigation and prosecution,” he added.

He also reiterated the determination of the hunters to complement security agencies in the fight against crimes, especially in forests across the state, where bandits hide.

He concluded by adding that the responsibility of fighting crime and protecting the residents should not be left to the security agents alone, stressing that security agents need all the support of the people.
