President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, of Ondo State will always be remembered as a man who embodied courage, News About Nigeria reports.
He stated this while speaking during his visit to the Paramount ruler of Owo, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye.
He noted that the death of the late governor, who was fondly referred to as Aketi, has left a void that will be difficult to fill.
The President went on a private visit to the state to commiserate with the people of the state over the death of the former governor.
Tinubu, who visited the family of the late governor and then went on to visit the national leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, stressed that the death of the governor was a bitter pill to swallow, adding that his legacies will continue to live forever and will not be forgotten.
“He truly embodied courage and fearlessness, especially in his relentless pursuit of good governance.
“I can only describe him as a fearless fighter, his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people and his courageous nature will always be remembered.
“This sentiment should inspire us to live each day with purpose, to pursue our goals with determination, and to leave behind a legacy that will be remembered fondly by those whose lives we have touched,” he stated.
He added that the late governor had a passion for good governance.
The monarch, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the president for his visit.
Oba Ogunoye described the late governor as a true democrat, highlighting his unwavering commitment to democratic principles and practices.
Oba Ogunoye not only expressed gratitude but also honoured the late governor’s legacy as a staunch defender of democratic ideals.
