Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is facing a barrage of curses from displeased Nigerians who believe he rigged the 2023 presidential election results in favour of Bola Tinubu.
News About Nigeria gathered that a group of dissatisfied Nigerians had designated February 25, 2024, a year after the presidential election, as a day to vent their frustrations by cursing Yakubu.
Expressing their anger on social media, they alleged that Yakubu Mahmood manipulated the votes to ensure Tinubu’s victory, contending that the rightful winner was Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
Dubbed as “National Prayer Day in Nigeria, with the theme ‘Cursed Be Mahmood Yakubu’,” social media users, took to social media to direct curses at the INEC Chairman.
An X user, Babatunde Gbadamosi, prayed for curses to haunt Yakubu’s life, linking his actions to the suffering experienced by Nigerians allegedly caused by Tinubu.
Curses were not only reserved for Yakubu but extended to what was referred to as “corrupt INEC staff”.
Gbadamosi rained curses on everyone involved, from corrupt directors and commissioners to polling officers and even security personnel who allegedly harassed Nigerians during the elections.
Social media influencer Nefertiti prayed that Mahmood Yakubu be denied paradise for denying Nigerians their choice, wishing sickness and perpetual calamity upon him and his family.
Lawrence Okoro invoked hardship upon Yakubu, hoping that the INEC Chairman’s last days on earth would be slow and painful.
Other netizens joined in, quoting scriptures, alleging manipulation of electronic voting systems, and predicting misfortunes for Yakubu.
