President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Kemi Nanna Nandap as the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), News About Nigeria reports.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
DCG Nandap is set to assume the position of Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, succeeding Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, whose tenure concludes on February 29, 2024.
Prior to this appointment, Nandap served as the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The President expressed his anticipation that the newly appointed Comptroller-General would further advance the ongoing reforms within the service.
“The President anticipates that the new Comptroller-General will deepen the ongoing reforms in the service and create a robust mechanism for efficient and dedicated service delivery to Nigerians, as well as strengthen the nation’s security through proactive and effective border security and migration management,” the statement said.
In December 2023, President Tinubu approved the appointment of Adepoju Wura-Ola as substantive Comptroller-General of the NIS.
Adepoju had been serving in an acting capacity since June 1, 2023, and her appointment was part of the administration’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership within the Immigration Service.
Wura-Ola, a seasoned NIS officer, has undergone various training programmes, including those at the Immigration Training School in Kano, the Immigration Command and Staff College in Sokoto, and the National Institute for Security Studies in Bwari, Abuja.
She is also a fellow of the Pass Command Course, a fellow of the Security Institute of Nigeria, and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
