FG To Create Jobs With New Project

The Federal Government (FG) has launched a new project, Project 774 LG Connectivity, aimed at creating more jobs for Nigerians, News About Nigeria reports.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, disclosed this on Monday via his X handle, stating that it is a strategy that will create no less than 300 direct jobs and more indirect jobs from the increase in digital access.

He also noted that Project 774 LG Connectivity will connect 774 local government areas (LGAs) in the country to the Internet, adding that it is a commendable project.

Tijani added that the project will be co-anchored by Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited and Galaxy Backbone and will be supervised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

He maintained that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to deliver efficient public service to citizens of the country at the local government level and the ministry’s strategic blueprint.

“As part of our plans to foster inclusive development and promote access to digital public infrastructure in government, I am happy to announce the launch of Project 774 LG Connectivity.

“The project, which will leverage the existing infrastructure of the @NigComSat1R and @Galaxybackbone, will provide connectivity to all 774 local government secretariats across Nigeria,” the statement reads in part.

He further noted that the goal of the project is to foster inclusive development and access to digital public infrastructure in government offices located all over Nigeria, including the most remote areas of the country that may have been previously underserved or unserved.
