Tinubu Orders The Suspension Cybersecurity Levy Implementation

President Bola Tinubu has appointed new chairpersons and chief executive officers in key health agencies, including NAFDAC and NCDC, News About Nigeria reports.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, announced on Thursday the appointments for eight agencies under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Among the appointments is Dr. Mansur Kabir as the new Chairman of the Board of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Additionally, Tinubu reappointed Prof. Moji Adeyeye as the Chief Executive Officer of NAFDAC.

Dr. Olajide Idris has been appointed as the new Director-General for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), replacing Prof. Ifedayo Adetifa.

Idris is expected to assume office on February 19, 2024.

Other appointments include Prof. Abba Zubairu and Dr. Saleh Yuguda as board chairperson and CEO, respectively, for the National Blood Service Commission; Prof. Afolabi Lesi and Dr. Fatima Kyari as board chairperson and CEO, respectively, for the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria; Wasilat Giwa and Ibrahim Ahmed as board chairperson and CEO, respectively, for the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, and Dr. Babajide Salako and Dr. Tosan Erhabor as board chairperson and CEO, respectively, of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.

In addition, Prof. Adamu Bakari has been appointed as the Chief Medical Director of Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, Adamawa State, while Prof. Reuben Eifediyi will serve as the CMD of the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State.

Ngelale said that these appointments are in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to bringing world-class standards to Nigerian public health administration and delivering affordable and quality care to all Nigerians.

The President expects the new leadership to implement new policy frameworks promptly, under the guidance of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Muhammad Pate, to reposition the sector effectively.
