Delta Crisis: State Leaders Appeal To Tinubu On Behalf Of Villagers

The leadership of the Labour Party (LP) has tasked President Bola Tinubu with fulfilling his promises to Nigerians concerning releasing 102,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains as a short-term measure to address the food crisis in the country, News About Nigeria reports.

The spokesman for the Labour Party Campaign Organisation, Yunusa Tanko, gave this charge to President Bola Tinubu in a statement on Sunday, alleging that previous promises made by the government were not fulfilled.

Recall that the Federal Government announced plans to release 42,000 metric tonnes of maize, millet, garri and other commodities from the National Strategic Grain Reserve last Thursday.

Reacting to this announcement, the Labour Party tasked the government with ensuring it followed through on its promise, stating that the Tinubu-led administration is fond of lying to Nigerians.

“The problem with this APC-led government is that they make pronouncements but won’t follow them. They only use it to play to the gallery without looking at its implementation and execution. They will lie to the people, but they won’t execute it. Even with the N25,000 they promised Nigerians since last year, we are already in February, and nothing has been given to the people,” Tanko stated.

He further maintained that this has been the attitude of the government, including in the distribution of palliatives, which, according to him, always end up in private pockets.

He noted that several promises of this administration have become null, including the distribution of palliatives, the increment of civil servant salaries, and many other promises.
