Rivers State House Of Assembly Accuses Fubara Of Constitutional Violations

On Thursday, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja remanded some loyalists of the River State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, over their alleged involvement in the explosion that razed the Rivers State Assembly complex.

News About Nigeria recalls that during the crisis that broke out in Rivers State, an explosion razed the complex of the state assembly on October 30, 2023.

According to reports, the crisis broke out following moves by the immediate former governor of the state, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and some lawmakers loyal to him to impeach Governor Fubara and the then Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie.

The court on Thursday remanded five of the loyalists of Governor Fubara who were allegedly behind the fire that engulfed the Rivers Assembly.

The five of them who were arraigned before Justice Bolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court in Abuja, include Prince Lukman Oladele, Kenneth Goodluck Kpasa, Chime Eguma Ezebalike, Ochueja Thankgod and Osiga Donald.

According to the court, the five of them will remain in prison custody until February 2nd, 2024, when their respective bail applications will be determined by the judge.

The defendants were on a seven-count charge, accused of committing alleged terrorism offences by invading, vandalising and burning down the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The five of them were also accused of killing a Superintendent of Police, Bako Agbashim, and five police informants in the Ahoada community of the state.

They were also accused of using various cult groups to carry out their evil activities against innocent people in the state.
