Gov. Sule Debunks Report Of Governors Not Being Interested In Minimum Wage

Following the judgement of the Supreme Court, which upheld the election of the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, the governor has said that he knew that he would reclaim his mandate.

According to the governor, he had no fear of losing his election victory at the Supreme Court because he had provided lots of evidence to show that he won the election and that the tribunal, which had earlier sacked him, was wrong in its judgement.

The governor further stated that he didn’t entertain any fear of losing because he had been overwhelmingly voted for by the people of the state in the gubernatorial poll.

Sule, who said this on Friday evening during Channels Television’s Politics Today, lauded the Supreme Court for upholding the Constitution in its judgement.

While celebrating that the governorship election litigation is now over, the governor called on the opposition to partner with him towards building the state.

News About Nigeria reported that the apex court, in its judgement on Friday dismissed the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election, David Umbugadu, against Sule’s election.

Delivering judgement on the matter on Friday, the Supreme Court panel of justices, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the petition of the candidate of the PDP against Governor Sule because it lacked merit.

The apex court, however, did not award any costs to the petitioners.

It can be recalled that the Nasarawa state Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia nullified the election of the governor on October 12, 2023, while declaring Ombugadu the winner of the poll.

Dissatisfied with the outcome of the tribunal judgement, the governor and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), headed for the appeal court, which faulted the decision of the tribunal and affirmed Sule’s election as governor.

Also not satisfied with the appeal court’s judgement, Ombugadu and his party appealed the judgement in the Supreme Court but lost to Sule, who, in a unanimous decision by the Apex Court, was declared the winner of the election.
