Renowned Nigerian singer Harrysong has issued a plea for privacy as his family navigates through challenging times, following recent reports of marital discord, News About Nigeria reports.
The artiste, whose real name is Harrison Tare Okiri, urged the general public to respect the privacy of his family amidst the circulating rumours.
A few days ago, leaked chat conversations between Harrysong and his wife, Alexer Perez Gopa, surfaced online, revealing a heated exchange between the couple.
In the messages, there were alleged threats from Harrysong to withdraw support for his wife if she didn’t abort her pregnancy.
The conversation also included references to personal matters, contributing to the public speculation about their relationship.
In response to the ongoing discussions on social media, Harrysong took to his Instagram story on Thursday, to address the situation.
Harrysong admitted to having marital struggles with his wife as he described the period as challenging.
He acknowledged the challenging nature of the period for his family and requested understanding and privacy from the public.
In his statement, Harrysong said, “After much reflection and discussion with my family, I have decided to put out this [statement] to my fans and well-wishers. While this is undoubtedly a challenging time for my family on the stories making rounds on social media of the marital problems my wife and I are having, I am appealing to members of the public to respect my family’s privacy during this period and also to kindly request for your utmost understanding. Thanks for the love and support.”
Harrysong and his wife tied the knot in March 2021 in Warri.
