In response to the recent surge in insecurity and abduction cases in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of the country, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has convened a crucial meeting with the Force Management Team and Tactical Squads.

News About Nigeria gathered that the meeting aimed to strategise and take decisive action to address the growing concerns surrounding insecurity in Nigeria.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the IGP expressed deep concern over the unfortunate events and stressed the necessity for prompt and effective measures to curb such heinous crimes.

The meeting focused on a comprehensive review of current security challenges, strategic planning, and the deployment of tactical resources to tackle emerging threats.

The IGP highlighted the importance of a coordinated and intelligence-driven approach to address the evolving security landscape.

Tactical squads were briefed and directed to intensify efforts to deploy proactive measures to prevent criminal activities and protect citizens.

The IGP, while reassuring Nigerians, especially residents of the FCT, of improved security, ordered the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Operations, to personally coordinate the upscaled security strategies aimed at combating kidnappers and other criminally minded individuals in the FCT and restore normalcy promptly.

In addition to operational strategies, the IGP said that community engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to gather information, enhance trust, and foster a collective effort in combating criminal elements is important.

The move follows recent incidents, including the kidnapping and subsequent death of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar in the Bwari Area and the abduction of 13-year-old Folasade Ariyo and her family in the Dutse-Alhaji Area of Abuja.

The perpetrators of the latter incident raised their demands from an initial N60 million ransom to N700 million after the killing of Folashade Ariyo.
