The Federal Government has revealed that it will begin a probe into the alleged embezzlement of funds by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, News About Nigeria reports.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

He noted that the public has raised concerns over the alleged payment of funds into a private account by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and assured Nigerians that the government will get to the root of the matter.

He also noted that the federal government will work tirelessly to unravel the truth, ensure that appropriate actions are taken to effectively identify any breaches and infractions, and dole out punishments in line with the administration’s commitment to public accountability and due process.

Idris further stated that the Tinubu-led administration is committed to the task of ensuring that public funds are allocated and utilised effectively and efficiently to address the needs of Nigerians, adding that President Bola Tinubu is transparent and accountable to the people.

He therefore assured the people that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ascertain the accuracy and validity of the reported details.

According to him, this investigation is the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

He therefore urged Nigerians to discard information from unverified sources, maintaining that the Ministry of Information and National Orientation remains the primary source for verified information about events and actions of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and also assuring the people that only accurate details will be shared with the public.
