Driver Dies As Bus Collide With Truck On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Residents of lkare-Akoko, Ondo State, have been thrown into a state of panic as a bus rammed into some youths during the New Year carnival, killing one and leaving two others injured, on Monday, News About Nigeria reports.

It was gathered that the youths in the area had been on the road, celebrating the carnival before the unfortunate incident happened.

The incident, which took place in the Sago area of the community, was said to have affected youths from the Olokelede area of Ikare who were holding a procession from Ekan to Okela.

An eyewitness revealed that the victims were rushed to the hospital immediately, but unfortunately, one of them died on Tuesday morning, adding that it was caused by a loss of control by the bus driver.

The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ezekiel, who confirmed the incident, stated that the injured victims were taken to Inland Hospital, Ikare for immediate treatment while the crashed vehicle was taken to the FRSC base, Ikare, for safekeeping.

He expressed his sadness over the unfortunate incident and cautioned drivers against driving recklessly on the road, adding that life is precious and drivers should therefore take their work seriously.

He also urged the people of the state to always celebrate with caution in a responsible manner, cautioning them against taking things overboard.

He assured the people that proper investigations would be carried out to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, and appropriate actions would be taken afterward.
