The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted that beginning on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, there will be a slight dust haze in the inland areas of the southern parts of the country, News About Nigeria reports.
This prediction was contained in the agency’s weather report that was released in Abuja on Tuesday.
The agency also stated that there will be sunny and hazy weather for the North and North Central states of the country beginning on Wednesday, adding that few clouds are also expected over the coastal cities with slim prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening periods.
According to the report, the weather predictions are likely to last for three days, beginning from Wednesday up until Friday, January 6.
The agency, therefore, urged airlines to check in with the agency and obtain updated weather reports from them, which will help them plan their operations more effectively and efficiently.
The agency also advised that individuals with asthma and other respiratory issues ensure that they are cautious of the weather conditions and take the necessary precautions to avoid having an attack.
NiMet further advised that the public take necessary precautions, maintaining that there will be a suspension of dust particles in the air, and this can lead to a variety of illnesses, even for those who are not asthmatic.
The agency urged Nigerians to always go out with their face masks, avoid dust as much as they can, and avoid any other form of air pollution.
