Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has tasked members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, the president needs the support and prayers of everyone to be able to effectively deliver his mandate to the people.
The Imo State Governor appealed during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of rice to the five Southeast states on Tuesday at the Secretariat of CAN in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
While reminiscing on the previous year (2023), the governor appreciated God for helping the people overcome the challenges they faced, noting that 2024 would be a much better year.
He also stated that, though the President introduced some reforms that brought pains like the high cost of items in the market, the policies are meant to address the pains and to recover the economy.
Uzodimma also added that Tinubu aims to reduce hardship in Nigeria, strengthen the Naira, grow the economy, create jobs for the unemployed, and also make Nigeria great again.
He further noted that President Tinubu is committed to the well-being of the people, which is why, during the fuel subsidy removal, his administration distributed palliatives across states in the Federation to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal.
The governor also revealed that the truckloads of rice distributed to Christians in all five states in the South East were personal donations made by the President to celebrate the festive season with the people.
Uzodimma further explained that he decided to share the relief materials from the President through CAN because all Christians in the region are under their umbrella.
According to him, the Imo State Government would support CAN with the logistics needed to convey the truckloads of rice to all other states in the region; Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo, respectively, for distribution.
News About Nigeria reported that the CAN Chairmen from the five states presented the Governor with an African Study Bible in appreciation of his good works during the event.
