APC Suspends Ex-Osun Governor Aregbesola

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has faulted the claim of former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, that former governor Adegboyega Oyetola betrayed him, maintaining that Aregbesola is the betrayer, News About Nigeria reports.

Recall that earlier on, during the weekend, in Ilesa, Aregbesola claimed that Oyetola betrayed him and his loyalists on a power-sharing agreement, which cost the former governor a second term in office.

The All Progressive Congress (APC), in a statement by the Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, on Tuesday, however, debunked Aregbesola’s claim, describing it as a lie.

He noted that Aregbesola had, at the end of the meeting where the agreement was made, prepared the contents of the resolutions, which included that there would be an automatic ticket for Oyetola.

Lawal added that Oyetola would be allowed to face governance without interference from any quarters.

He maintained that Aregbesola flouted the agreement by sponsoring Alhaji Moshood Adeoti during the primaries, contrary to the agreement reached, adding that the former Minister also sponsored 10 different cases in various courts to challenge the nomination of Oyetola as the candidate of the APC.

All these, he noted, were done after Aregbesola had held a parallel congress and pushed unsuccessfully to have a validly elected chairman of the party replaced with his factional chairman.

He, therefore, maintained that Aregbesola was a liar and betrayer, adding that petitions had been written against him, cataloguing his anti-party activities.

Lawal further stated that the former minister was only seeking political relevance and meant no good for the party.
