The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State on Tuesday suspended the state’s party chairman, Mr Fatai Adams, News About Nigeria reports.

While announcing Fatai’s suspension, the State Working Committee accused the embattled chairman of being involved in anti-party activities that are capable of ruining the party.

According to the state’s PDP leadership, Fatai, before his suspension, was found to be going against the PDP’s rules and regulations and also denting the image of the PDP.

Fatai’s suspension was contained in a statement issued by members of the State Working Committee, which partly reads, “Pursuant to section 58(1b. c, f. h. and i) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017, the State Working Committee has approved the suspension of the State Chairman, Mr. Fatai Adams, for anti-party activities and for engaging in activities likely to bring the party to disrepute.”

The Ondo PDP Working Committee, in its statement, also charged the suspended chairman to appear before the State Disciplinary Committee of the party for further interrogations within the next week.

However, reacting to his suspension by the Ondo PDP, Fatai stated that his suspension was the handiwork of some ‘elements’ in the party who were witch-hunting him.

He further stated that they were against him because of the ‘evil plan’ they want to execute in the forthcoming bye-election in the Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West Federal Constituency of the state.

Contrary to their announcement, the embattled PDP chieftain declared that he was still the chairman of the PDP in Ondo State.
