Delta Crisis: State Leaders Appeal To Tinubu On Behalf Of Villagers

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that the refusal by President Bola Tinubu to visit the communities affected by the Christmas Eve attack is highly suspicious, News About Nigeria reports.

The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday, stating that the party was appalled by the president’s lack of empathy for the victims of the terrorist attack in the Bokkos and Barkin Ladi communities of Plateau State.

He noted that Nigerians have raised questions as to why there was no intelligence report on the attack either before, during, or after the massacre, which went on for over 48 hours, adding that the people were beginning to wonder if the assertions made by the former military head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, on the possibility of complicity by officials of a government in an unrestrained insurgency or crisis were true, seeing as things unfolded in Plateau State.

He further stated that the actions of the president reeked of insensitivity and neglect of his duty, maintaining that it was unwise for the President as the Commander-in-Chief to remain silent in the face of the targeted massacre of his citizens without defence and assistance.

Ologunagba also berated the President for failing to play his expected role as “Consoler-in-Chief” by not immediately visiting the troubled areas to demonstrate leadership, empathy, and connection with the citizens.

He therefore called on President Bola Tinubu to quell the fears and concerns of Nigerians and visit the affected communities, adding that he must also address the country personally, giving concrete steps to track down the perpetrators and their sponsors.
